He was married three times. Other notes suggest he was born 1773. Jean Baptista DeMers first wife had one daughter,and they she and the daughter both died.
Jean Baptista DeMers' second wife had a daughter and the mother died and he was left to raise the girl.
Jean Baptista DeMers' third wife was a housekeeper. At the time of raising his family, he had quite a lot of land and cattle and Maple groves. He sold the maple sugar and cattle. His place was in either "St. Hyacynth" or "Trois Riveres". Having more land than he could use, he let his neighbor raise vegetables on part of it. His cattle died of sickness. In a terrible rainstorm, he was out looking over the dead cattle, caught a bad cold, and passed away. He was about 60 years old.
